Editorial

In 2025, we are looking forward to many Schumann at various locations again. These events directly relate to Clara and Robert Schumann and approach the musical couple and their environ- ment in the 19th century in a wide variety of ways and formats. Our Schumann portal (Schumann-Portal) will keep you infor- med of all activities on a daily basis. You will also find reports on past events there, which we refer to on p. 183.
We are extremely pleased to present issue 12 of our Schumann Journal, for the second time as a digital magazine. This ensures that it is always up to date and makes it easier to access for readers.
You will find detailed reviews of CDs, sheet music editions and book titles published in the last year starting on p. 184. In addition, this issue once again offers essays on exciting topics. This time the focus is on Robert Schumann’s great vocal sympho- nic works, the opera Genoveva (starting on p. 7) and the Scenes from Goethes Faust (starting on p. 62). The New Edition of Schumann’s Complete Works (RSA, starting on p. 287) and the Robert Schumann’s Poetic World project are also discussed, as is the progress of the Schumann letter edition (starting on p. 168).
We hope you enjoy reading this issue and look forward to many opportunities to meet you in person. We wish you a happy and musically fulfilling year 2025,

Sincerely,
Ingrid Bodsch· Irmgard Knechtges-Obrecht· Thomas Synofzik
